How to Order a Portrait
This is a guide for how to order a personalised portrait commission. This guide includes information about the process and my pricing, plus some FAQs. If you have any further questions please email me.
How Does It Work?
It’s easy! If you would like to commission a portrait, just email me at hi@jamiesquire.co.uk and tell me your portrait idea.
I will reply with a price quote and if you’re happy with the price you can pay me securely by PayPal or bank transfer.
Next, I’ll ask you for some photos to draw from and a few simple questions about your portrait and the person/people/pets in it. I’ll send you an initial outline and we can discuss any changes you would like.
Finally, I’ll colour your portrait, and when you’re happy that the colours are just right, I’ll send you a high-quality digital file of your finished portrait.
If you have also ordered a print, I will then send the artwork off to the printers and I’ll keep in touch to let you know when your portrait is on its way to you.
How Long Does a Portrait Take?
I aim to get portrait commissions completed within 1-2 weeks. If you need your portrait in time for a special event, please let me know. The time it takes to complete a portrait also depends on how quickly you are able to respond to sketches and the number of changes.
How Long Does a Print Take?
If you are also interested in a print of your finished portrait, these are the estimated times for printing and delivery (from the date of sending the completed portrait to the printers.)
UK: 7 working days (First Class delivery)
Europe (temporarily unavailable): 10 working days (International Standard delivery)
The United States and Canada: up to 3 weeks (International Standard delivery)
Chile, Mexico, or South America in general, Asia: up to 5-8 weeks (International Standard delivery)
I also offer the option of rush printing and delivery, but this will cost more than the standard delivery.

Why Does a Portrait Commission Cost this Amount?
My prices are based on the number of hours I spend on a portrait. This amount means I can afford to put in the time and effort required to make sure that your portrait is just right.
If you have further questions about my pricing or you would like to discuss your budget, please contact me by email.
What if I Want to Change Something?
No problem! The price of your portrait includes an initial outline plus 3 additional changes; for example, if you decide that you would prefer an arm to be in a different position or hair a different style. Hopefully, changes won’t be necessary as I’ll already have an understanding of what you are looking for. Any further changes after this initial 3 would be £10 – I only charge this amount so that we don’t end up going back and forth forever!
Anything Else?
Please inform me of any time restrictions before I start work on your portrait.
Completed portraits are for personal use only. Commercial use is not allowed.
Please credit me and link to my Instagram @jamiesquire_ if you share your finished portrait online.
You may not change anything about the artwork once it is complete (like changing the colours.)
I take payments by PayPal or bank transfer, and I’ll work on your portrait once payment is complete.
Thanks for reading and I’m so excited to work with you on your portrait!
